RETREATS - We have started the year with both feet on the ground and running.  Hopefully your child has shared with you their retreat experience during the first week of school.  This year, we focused on Community Service as a theme: "We Are Called, We Are Chosen".  We had two student guest speakers who did an excellent job with their powerpoint presentations.

Our first speaker was Tori Bunk, a Brady sophomore, who spoke about her experience last year on a Native American Lakota Reservation.  Tori helped winterize and skirt trailers, built a ramp for a disabled housebound woman, and built new latrines.  Tori learned a lot about their culture and their history and shared this each day with the various classes.

Our second speaker was Zack Noel a Brady senior.  Zack spent an incredible time this summer working with the Native people of Fiji.  His work met many different elements from community service to teaching young children some computer skills.  He then shared a beautiful pictorial presentation of the island along with some of the Native music.

United Way "Day of Caring" - As I reported in an email to everyone, on Wed. Sept. 16th, 22 Brady students volunteered to paint, clean and garden at the Senior Center on West Street in Concord.  A big thank you to Hannah Bassett for suggesting Brady's participation in this great event in conjunction with the United Ways "Day of Caring."  The following students were our willing volunteers: Hannah Bassett, Travis Begin, Tori Bunk, Casey Burr, Steven Brasley,Meaghan Fitzgerald, Jon Garen, Rachel Garen, Kerry Gaudreau, Zack Higham, Hillary Holmes, Rachel Kelly, Jordan Lassonde, Maggie MacMullin, Katie Pedro, Olivia Rosado, Abbie Stehno, Abigail Schreier, Phil Smith, Kathleen Stewart, Teresa Zahn, and Megan Vachon.  Be sure to watch the Brady website for pictures of this three hour painting trek!
