The Magical History Tour
On Aril 10th from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM the Cub Scouts of Pack 81 as well as the Boy Scouts of Troop 81 in Concord, NH will be putting on a hike a thon to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouting in the United States. This event will also recognize many of the historic events that have taken place throughout New Hampshire's History as well as many of the people that have helped make Concord the capitol that it is. The Committee putting this walk together has organized a five mile walk for Cub Scouts and a ten mile walk for Boy Scouts that literally covers the city of Concord. It will include walking by many important historical buildings on Main Street in Concord. Phoenix Hall where Abraham Lincoln spoke prior to the Civil War. Franklin Pierce's law Office as well as his home and his final resting place in the Old North Cemetery. Christa McAuliffe's grave in Blossom Hill Cemetery and the monument to Mr Rufo who was killed at the battle of St Lo in Normandy during World War II. Those are just some of the events that will be highlighted throughout Concord.
Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts who attend Bishop Brady are being asked to help with the hike a thon and many other students who would like to volunteer as a way of earning service hours will be helping to make this hike a thon a tremendous success. The motivation for this project comes from Mr and Mrs Dusseault because they have been involved with Boy Scouts since their two sons Ray, a Brady graduate, and Jeff were Scouts and both achieved Scouting's highest award, the Eagle Award.
Now it is time for Andy and Claire's grandson Jacob to follow Scouting on the Eagle trail while being directed by his Dad, Jeff, who is Jacob's Scoutmaster. Hopefully the twenty or so Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts who attend Bishop Brady will enjoy celebrating the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouting along with the many Bishop Brady volunteers who will be doing a good deed on April 10th.
