What is The Bishop Brady Fund? The Bishop Brady Fund is our annual fund. Annual giving is the financial life-line of all private schools providing the necessary resources to fund programs and activities that are not fully covered by tuition. All monies received in the current fiscal year through the annual fund are used during that same fiscal year. Our fiscal year runs from July 1, through June 30.
Why is The Bishop Brady Fund Necessary? We need to raise additional monies each year in order to continue to build upon our school's strong academic programs; fund faculty development programs and technology enhancements and provide financial assistance while maintaining an affordable as possible tuition rate. Tuition alone does not balance the annual budget.
Why not just raise the tuition? Although raising tuition is necessary each year to keep pace with the increased costs to operate a school, it does not satisfy for all needs. We try to keep the tuition as affordable as possible so that a Bishop Brady education is attainable for all qualified candidates. For those who are able to pay more, we ask that they do. All monies donated over and above the tuition amount are considered a charitable contribution and are typically tax deductible. This provides an opportunity for all constituencies, family, friends, parents, alumni, grand parents and corporate sponsors to support Bishop Brady at a level with which they feel comfortable.
Who is asked to participate? Everyone is asked to participate. In fact opportunities for grants are based on participation. Many people are hesitant to donate to a cause if they are not able to donate a large sum. That creates a lost opportunity for the school and the donor. It truly does not matter the size of the gift. It is the number of alumni, board members, faculty and current families that participate that is important. Participation is a measure of the school's strength and its support. Can I direct my donation? Absolutely. You can choose between the Tuition Assistance Fund, Faculty Development Fund, Athletic Fund, Technology Fund or the General Fund.
