Dress Code

General Requirements

  • Oxford shirts and uniform-style pants and shorts may be purchased from other vendors this year as long as they conform to the uniform standards for length, color, and style. 
  • Clothing and shoes must be clean, neat, properly fitted, in good condition, and worn as designed. Shoes with laces must be tied. 
  • Clothing must fully cover the waistband when arms are raised and may not be excessively tight, oversized, or revealing.
  • Although the Tommy Hilfiger uniform store offers the “Brady Tie”, any professional tie of choice may be worn.
  • Uniform Oxford shirts, pants, shorts, and skirts/skorts do not need to have the BB logo. However, all polos, sweaters and outerwear must have the logo.
  • Oxford shirts may have only the top button unfastened and must be worn in a manner that maintains modesty.
  • Skirts, skorts, and shorts must extend below the student's fingertips when standing naturally. NO athletic type skirts or shorts except on dress down days.
  • Approved uniform shorts may be worn only before Nov 1 and after April break, and may not be worn on Formal Dress days.
  • Only approved outerwear may be worn inside the building. All other outerwear must be stored in student lockers upon arrival.
  • The administration reserves the right to determine whether footwear meets the definition of a dress or business casual shoe
  • Gauge-type earrings are prohibited. 
  • Hats may not be worn in the building except for themed dress-down days.

Formal Dress Day

Monday is a Formal Dress Day at Bishop Brady High School. (The Administration may identify other Formal Dress events throughout the year) 

On formal dress days, all students must wear: 

  • Hunter green Bishop Brady blazer. 
  • White solid Oxford shirt (with or without the logo)
  • Boys: top button fastened with professional tie, tightened at the collar
  • Girls: may be untucked

Uniform-style pants (khaki or navy) or pleated skirts/skorts (khaki, navy, or school plaid)

  • Boys: solid black or brown belt required, shirt tucked in
  • Girls: skirts/skorts must be worn with solid navy or black tights/nylons (no leggings/socks.
  • No shorts, sweaters, fleece, or outerwear
  • Dress shoes only

Regular Dress Day Guidelines

Regular Dress Days Tuesday - Thursday

Shirts/Blouses:

  • White or hunter green Bishop Brady logo polo
  • White or light-blue solid Oxford shirt (logo not required for oxford shirts this year)

Boys: must be tucked in

Girls: may be untucked


Khaki or navy uniform-style pants, shorts, skirts/skorts (khaki, navy, school plaid)

Boys: solid black or brown belt required

Girls: skirts/skorts must be worn with solid 

navy or black tights/nylons (no leggings/socks)


Outerwear: Grey or hunter green Bishop Brady logo sweater, fleece, or performance pullover may be worn over the uniform top


Dress or business-casual shoes only (no sneakers)



Friday Spirit Day

Dress Code for Friday Spirit Days (Friday)

  • Regular Dress bottoms 
  • Approved Bishop Brady spirit shirts/sweatshirts and logo athletic tops may be worn. This includes NH Hockey Academy tops.
  • Closed-toe shoes or sneakers may be worn (no clogs, Birkenstocks, crocs or slippers)

Dress Down

Designated Dress Down Days

  • Jeans, casual pants, cargo pants, joggers, sweatpants, and athletic shorts are allowed. 
  • Non-uniform tops may be worn as long as they are modest, school appropriate, cover the shoulders, and fully cover the waistband when arms are raised.
  • All skirts/skorts/shorts may be worn without tights/nylons as long as they meet the same length requirement as the regular uniform.
  • Sneakers, Birkenstocks, boots, and sandals may be worn (no flip-flops, Crocs, or slippers)
  • No pajama pants or other form-fitting garments
