Summer Reading
Students returning from last year or accepted Before July 14, 2025 must complete the regular Summer Reading assignment listed below.
Grade 11
Summer Reading expectations for students accepted after July 14, 2025
Students accepted between July 14, 2025 and August 1, 2025
will be expected to read a
fiction book from their grade summer reading list and adhere to the assignment expectations regarding the project. Students in grades 10-12 will also read the
alternate non-fiction article for their grade and will have a timed write in class. (Grade 9 is exempt from the non-fiction reading requirement; it will be done in class and be
teacher-directed.)
Students accepted after August 1, 2025 will be expected to read the alternate fiction selection for their grade and do the project assignment. Students in grades 10-12 will also read the alternate non-fiction article for their grade and will have a timed write in class. (Grade nine is exempt from the non-fiction reading requirement; it will be done in class and be teacher-directed.)

- Grade 11

- Grade 12

- Short story: "The Landlady" by Roald Dahl
- Article: "How Resilience Works" By Diane Coutu
PLEASE NOTE
- All students, regardless of when they have been accepted, will do a project for their fiction piece.
- All projects are due the first week of classes. Due by Thursday, August 28th, 2025
- Grade 10-12 will read a non-fiction piece and have an in-class timed write. Grade 9 students will do that work in class.
